Fit Kids is entering into the widest-ranging school district partnership in the organization’s history, encompassing 28 schools within the Sacramento City Unified School District. All told, (3,940 summer & 3,406 school year) SCUSD students will receive the Fit Kids structured physical fitness and mindfulness program.
“The scope of this agreement is the wave of the future for Fit Kids,” said the organization’s founder and executive director, Ashley Hunter. “Providing our program at scale creates efficiencies for our partners and starts to create a district-wide culture committed to physical and mental health throughout the school system.”
The SCUSD schools will receive Fit Kids curriculum, staff training in program implementation, sets of fitness equipment, and access to Fit Kids website and apps. “The Fit Kids program is just what our students need,” said (Andrea Nava, Youth Development Specialist III). “This is a turnkey solution to our need for improved physical fitness and mindfulness activities. Knowing the connection between healthy bodies and healthy minds, we also anticipate that the Fit Kids program will contribute to our students improving their academic achievement to new levels.”
