Fit Kids Partners with Active Schools

Active Schools, an organization that uses a collective impact framework to help improve fitness levels at schools nationwide, has welcomed Fit Kids to its network of 90-plus like-minded public and private sector partner organizations.

“We are thrilled to work with Active Schools,” said Fit Kids Founder Ashley Hunter. “Their network of partners and Champions, the individuals enacting change at the grassroots level, will be instrumental in helping Fit Kids reach a wider audience. Similarly, we will be proud to contribute to the working group of partner organizations that Active Schools has assembled to raise public awareness of the need for schools to deliver the fitness opportunities all children need and deserve.”

In September, 2018 Active Schools and Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) together announce that AFHK is the new organizational home for Active Schools. Those two groups leverage the strength of their aligned missions and approaches to activating school health champions for change and a shared belief in the ability to make large scale social change through the power of collective impact.

In October, 2018 Fit Kids met with Active Schools Executive Director Charlene Burgeson at the Aspen Institute for Sports and Society Program’s Project Play Summit. “We soon saw the mutual benefit of partnering,” Hunter said. “We agree that nobody is going to solve issues of youth inactivity all by themselves, so it makes sense to partner with those who can help us achieve our mission.”
