Program Benefits

Strong HEARTS, Strong MINDS

The Fit Kids program offers participants many of the physical benefits associated with involvement in organized sports and fitness activities including improvements in hand eye coordination, balance, aerobic capacity, and body awareness. In addition we hope that participation in our program also brings a number of emotional health benefits such as an increase in confidence, independence and resiliency. All of these benefits are especially important as they contribute to an improved self-image and feeling of self-worth which are critical to a child’s healthy development. Our program strives to help kids develop many of these abilities that are particularly important as they grow and begin to enjoy and excel at team and individual sports.

A physically active lifestyle is associated with improvements across many healthy outcomes. Some of the incredible physical, mental, social and emotional benefits to children who are physically active are as follows:

  • Increases health-related fitness
  • Reduces risk of heart disease
  • Helps prevent obesity
  • Increases test scores and work ethic
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Helps prevent future injuries
  • Develops a sense of achievement which improves self-esteem
  • Improves sleep
  • Develops skills needed to socialize with peers and adults
  • Develops independence and confidence
  • Develops leadership skills
  • Helps children learn how to cooperate
  • Develops agility, coordination, endurance, flexibility, speed and strength

THE SCHOOL OR ORGANIZATION

Children who learn to cooperate, share and follow rules of group physical activities and those who learn to discover and test their physical abilities even in individual activities, are likely to feel more connected to their school and community and want to challenge themselves inside and outside of the classroom.

Kids who are physically active are more likely to be academically motivated and alert in school, according to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. Studies have shown that children who are more physically fit also absorb and retain new information more effectively than those who are out of shape.

Fit Kids provides a fun and innovative way for school leaders and staff to engage with kids through physical activity that provides health benefits for all and boosts academic achievement for those burgeoning young minds!
